Overview

Count tools are used to quantify discrete items like doors, windows, fixtures, columns, or any individual elements in your drawings. They can also apply multipliers to calculate associated lengths, areas, or volumes for each counted item.

Count (Basic)

The basic count tool places symbols on your drawing to mark and count individual items. Each symbol placement increments the count automatically.

Common Uses:

  • Doors and door frames
  • Windows and glazing units
  • Light fixtures and switches
  • Plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, etc.)
  • Electrical outlets and panels
  • Columns and structural elements
  • Equipment and appliances
  • Access points and penetrations

How to Use:

  1. Select the Count tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click on each item you want to count on the drawing.
  3. Each click places a symbol and increments the count.
  4. The total count is automatically displayed in the Measurement Tree.

Tip: Use different collections and labels to distinguish between different types of items (e.g., "Single Doors", "Double Doors", "Sliding Doors").

Count to Length

This tool counts items and applies a length multiplier to each one. Perfect for items that have an associated linear dimension.

Common Uses:

  • Door frames with standard lengths
  • Handrails at consistent lengths
  • Window sills and heads
  • Pipe assemblies with standard runs
  • Cable lengths per connection point
  • Linear trim pieces

How to Use:

  1. Select the Count to Length tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click on each item to place a count symbol.
  3. In the Element Properties panel, enter the length multiplier per item.
  4. The total length is calculated (count × length multiplier).

Example: If you count 10 doors and each requires 5.2m of door frame, use Count to Length with a 5.2m multiplier to get 52m total frame length.

Count to Area

This tool counts items and applies an area multiplier to each one. Ideal for items with a consistent surface area or footprint.

Common Uses:

  • Standard window sizes (e.g., 1.2m² per window)
  • Door leaf areas
  • Ceiling tiles or panels
  • Floor hatches or access panels
  • Glazing units with standard areas
  • Vent grilles and diffusers
  • Solar panels or roof lights

How to Use:

  1. Select the Count to Area tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click on each item to place a count symbol.
  3. In the Element Properties panel, enter the area multiplier per item.
  4. The total area is calculated (count × area multiplier).

Example: For 15 standard windows at 1.5m² each, use Count to Area with a 1.5m² multiplier to get 22.5m² total glazing area.

Count to Volume

This tool counts items and applies a volume multiplier to each one. Useful for items with a standard volume or 3D quantity.

Common Uses:

  • Precast concrete elements (e.g., 0.5m³ per column)
  • Septic tanks or inspection chambers
  • Prefabricated components
  • Standard excavation pits
  • Storage tanks with consistent volumes
  • Modular units or pods

How to Use:

  1. Select the Count to Volume tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click on each item to place a count symbol.
  3. In the Element Properties panel, enter the volume multiplier per item.
  4. The total volume is calculated (count × volume multiplier).

Note: Ensure you calculate the volume per item correctly before entering the multiplier. For complex shapes, calculate volume separately first.

Count Symbol Properties

After placing count symbols, you can customize them using the Element Properties panel:

  • Symbol Style – Choose different marker styles (dot, cross, number, etc.)
  • Symbol Color – Set color to distinguish different item types
  • Symbol Size – Adjust for visibility
  • Description & Label – Add meaningful names for organization
  • Collection – Group similar items together
  • Multiplier – Set length, area, or volume per item (for count-to tools)

Working with Count Measurements

Managing Multiple Counts

Use collections to organize different types of items:

  • Create separate collections for doors, windows, fixtures, etc.
  • Use descriptive labels like "2040×820 Single Door" for clarity
  • Color-code symbols by type or specification

Editing Counts

  • Click a symbol to select it
  • Delete individual symbols to reduce count
  • Move symbols if they were misplaced
  • Adjust multipliers in the Element Properties panel
