Managing Roles & Permissions

TL;DR: Set up and manage user roles and permissions in AedisPro. Control who can view, edit, and manage projects while maintaining security and collaboration.

Before you start

You need:

  • Administrator access to your AedisPro workspace
  • List of team members and their required access levels
  • Understanding of your project security requirements

Steps

Understanding Role Types

AedisPro includes several predefined roles:

Role Hierarchy

Owner: Full access to workspace settings, billing, and all projects
Administrator: Manage users, create projects, access all project data
Project Manager: Create and manage assigned projects, invite collaborators
Estimator: View and edit project takeoffs, create measurements

Inviting Team Members

From the workspace settings:

  1. Navigate to Team Management
  2. Click "Invite Member"
  3. Enter their email address
  4. Select appropriate role
  5. Choose project access levels
  6. Send invitation
Best Practice: Start with the minimum required permissions and increase access as needed. This follows the principle of least privilege for better security.

Project-Level Permissions

In addition to workspace roles, you can set specific permissions for individual projects:

  • View project details and drawings
  • Create and edit takeoffs
  • Export reports and data
  • Manage project settings
  • Invite additional collaborators

Verify

Confirm that team members can:

  • ✓ Access their assigned projects
  • ✓ Perform actions within their permission level
  • ✓ Cannot access restricted areas or projects
  • ✓ Receive appropriate notifications for their role

Troubleshooting

User can't access a project?

Check that they have been specifically granted access to that project, even if they have a high-level workspace role. Project access must be explicitly granted.

Permission changes not taking effect?

Ask the user to sign out and sign back in. Permission changes are applied when the user's session is refreshed.
